Epoxy Sealant: Types, Uses, And Applications

Different Types of Epoxy Sealant

Unlike most types of sealants, which only have one component (single-component sealants), epoxy sealants consist of two separate components (two-component sealants). Most epoxy sealants consist of a resinous material and a hardening agent which is suspended in either water or solvents based on the intended application. When any two components when mixed together, the combination go through a permanent chemical reaction.

2. Water-based.

3. 100% Solid type (no water or solvent).

4. Marine/gel type.

The fourth type is designed for high performance applications as it incorporates the most advanced hardeners and resins on the market, while the second type is the most common of all four types and is designed for light-traffic applications such as sealing a residential driveway or countertop. 

Solvent-based, the first type, is the mid-range option for moderate traffic applications such as sealing of a floor or parking lot in a small boutique.  While the 100 percent solids epoxy sealant made from 100 percent solids often provides the most durable and long lasting solution, but is also the most expensive.
